I want to install low voltage lights to illuminate the front of the house--I think I need two on each corner and two more either side of the front door (which is pretty much in the center of the house). Should I get 20 or 50 watt floods?

Go with the LED low voltage lights. They take hardly any wattage but last almost indefinitely. Cost more initially but I haven't changed any bulbs in six years.

Depends on colour and / or colour temperature Dennis, a *soft* white may seem to give less *apparent* illumination than a hard blue or white. Getting close to the middle of the spectrum (530ish nm) green will make even a small amount of power seem huge.

I'll second that. I put LED lights in my outdoor lighting and I can see the difference in my electricity usage. And they're getting cheaper all the time.

All my floods are 20W (equivalent). Seem to give lots of light.

Sounds like LEDs are the way to go, thanks.
