Does anyone here use beech for projects?

I haven't used a lot of it, but I did a few cutting boards out of it and the hardwood edging on this drill press table were beech -

It worked pretty nicely and took finish well. Don't remember for sure what I paid for it, but I seem to recall it being around the same price as red oak at the time.

Yes.
It is similar to hard maple in terms of working with hand tools.
That would be Euro Beech, not American.

I've used it for shop projects and for a couple of tables I have built. Grain is pretty non descript but there are flecks in the wood I like and the color is great. The tables I built were veneered with figured Birch, with the Beech as the legs and edge components with inlaid Peruvian Walnut accents.
