I just nabbed a Type 1 off the Bay and was disappointed it doesn't have a collet lock. I thought all these giants had them...
So what differences are there between the 3 versions?
Everything seems fine on mine--nothing missing, nothing broke, runs smooth, no rust in the collet seat. Didn't come with any accessories at all, though. Possible concern is the plunge lock lever is awkward to reach and very hard to depress. Maybe the PO monkeyed with it and set the spring tension way too high?

Just a little disappointed I not only need to buy a collet wrench--I need 2 :-\
All my routers except the little Dewalt trimmer need 2 wrenches.

I currently have an ELU 3338 Type 1 (as well as 3339). The 3338 is 12amp/2.25 HP and does not have a collet lock, whereas the 3339 (15amp/3HP) does. I don't think the 3338s ever came equipped with the collet lock (it is one of the several features that were added when these "became" the DeWalt DW621 - the 3339 "became" the DW625 and remained virtually unchanged).

I assumed since everyone gives the model number & type that there are differences.
