Agreed, it does look pretty cool. What I'm not sure about is what is magnetized and how it is responsive to human touch.

Seems they have the magnets in repel position, wouldn't that cause them to lose power in a short time ?

Polarity doesn't change how fast they degrade. They probably use rare earth magnets embedded in the wood and they will maintain their charge a lot longer than mild steel magnets. Of course you could get by that by using electromagnets and plugging it in. Neat outside the box thinking.

I don't doubt that the rare earth magnets last longer ,but I would be surprised if they repel as long as the table buyer is going to want them to. I still put "keepers" on magnetic knife setting gauges...just an old habit. The table is an interesting novelty but I don't find it attractive beyond that. I can't find an example to post here but I've seen antique tea tables etc that had better "floating tops " with clever design and no magnets.

I think as soon as you set a laptop on that table it would become very uncool.

Laptop would be fine... a CRT would have problems, though.

I was just going to say it looks like as soon as you set anything on that table it would become uncool and more of a hassle. I like the idea I just wish it wasn't completely useless as a table.

If you look at the video posted by Yonak, they did a great job matching the veneer around the edges. I say well done all around and great thinking out of the box, even though it's a bunch of boxes!
