Hello,

Sorry to be a pain but i am back again :)

So thanks to Dave I have a laser machine running and been using it for about a week now,

Now I seem to have developed a problem. When running at high speed and low power. The laser does not fire. e.g. 100speed and 20% power. Nothing happens. Higher power or lower speed and it works fine, No problems at all.

Any advice, is this normal?

Thanks

Hiya Si,

Some DC tubes don't like firing when you get down to under 20% power, the bigger the tube the more power is required to sustain the arc. Sounds like it *may* be a trigger wire if the machine runs ok at slower speeds.

Have a check of the wiring where it goes into the HV psu and at the opposing end where it joins the card. Sometimes the wires can shake loose so give them a nip up with a screwdriver just to be sure.

PLEASE leave the machine off for 24 hours first, the residual power in the PSU hot side can be quite an experience ;) it won't kill you but it's not something you want to experience for laughs :)

good news about the machine though :)

best wishes

Dave
