I have been searching for small box stop hinges with very little success. Actually only one that works well. I would love to use Brusso hardware on all my projects, but I need an inexpensive, outside mounted, stop hinge for less than heirloom quality box making.

Any leads or suggestions would be appreciated

Lee Valley sells small piano stop hinges for very little money.

But, he said "inexpensive". :)

These (http://www.leevalley.com/us/hardware/page.aspx?p=46481&cat=3,41241,41245&ap=1) meet both criteria if the level of quality is OK for what you are doing.

Richard Poitras. I think the shipping from Australia to Washington and any import duties might cost more than the hardware

Fair enough (although the "inexpensive" part is purely subjective) - I'll stop skimming questions before answering them. The point was (and remains) that what the OP needs can be had from Lee Valley and various other sources.

I wasn't trying to be a smarty and apologize if it came off that way. The written word lacks the nod and wink of face to face conversation. Interestingly, my first reaction was similar to yours as far as what "inexpensive" really means. There's "inexpensive" and there's "cheap". When it come to small box or cabinet hardware, Brusso is my automatic response as well. The cost of better hardware can be daunting but, nothing will spoil a piece faster for me than "cheap" looking/feeling hardware no matter what it cost. I have a reasonable collection of hardware that I tried to save money on that just didn't look/feel right on the piece. You'd think I would learn. Maybe I finally have. :)

Your collection of such hardware may be "reasonable" - mine, on the other hand, can only be called "unreasonable".

My only defence is that I live in a semi-remote area, and therefore must order either through catalogues or on the internet - meaning that I don't have the opportunity to lift and hold the piece to judge its quality and/or suitability.

Ray, I purchased some from them and bought the 5 pack. Shipping came to about $15.00 so the price was still not that bad. I live in Michigan.

Roy, as originally posted, I would love to use Brusso on all my projects, but am looking for a lower cost alternative for some simple boxes.

Richard,

Thanks for the lead. These look interesting and I will check them out further. However they are not outside mounted as originally posted.

Richard, Thanks for the lead. I have some of these and do use them on occasion. I don't care for their looks (very subjective) and would like to have a 95 degree stop vs the 80

Glenn, I am hoping to find something less than the $30+ per pair of Brusso's for simple box projects. As I mentioned in the original post, I would love to use the Brusso hardware on everything.
