Well I am going to skip over to the local store and pick up one of these:

Just the thing I have been looking for, also looked like a good deal as it is close to the price of just the blade. It looks like the parts from the block plane with a few extras. I might be able to retrofit it to one of my already made woodies. Cheers Ron

Tell us how it goes, just seems like it would drag a bunch of the things that are bad about metal planes into wooden ones. Though, I would give a micro adjustable blade dept a try. Don't think it would help much, but it wouldn't hurt. Not buying on the grub screw in the wedge. Have some fun with it.
