Here are some wine stoppers that I started this weekend. I got the King, Queen, Biship and Rook done. Still need to do the Pawn and the Knight. The Knight is going to be the biggest challenge to make. Turning is one thing, carving is something else. They are turned out of black wood with Hut Crystal Coat as the finish. First attempt at chess pieces.

I've edited this post with what I hope is a better picture of the bottle stoppers.

Very impressive, Bobby! Are you planning to do all of the pawns? A white set? A chessboard of holes?

Very nice Bobby. I was wondering how to turn the knight m'self a while back. I had it in my mind that you could turn it as a round horse and then just sand it flat on two sides. I'm sure that's the wrong way so I'd like to know your method.

Bobby,

Those really look great! Do fill us in on your intentions for them.

Very nice work, Bobby. Of course you've got to do a matching set in Maple or Holly.
