I found a scrub plane in my school shop. It's a Bailey transitional, and has a 3 (and some other numbers) stamped on the toe. I think there's a 2 in front of the 3, but it's indistinct. There's no tote, and it's about the size of a normal transitional #3. However, the sole is curved or convex across the short axis and the blade is ground with a very large radius. Once tuned up it worked pretty well as a scrub, and with the convex sole it will work well for cleaning up the interior of concave panels and doors. I can't find this on B&G; is this a shop modification, or do I have one of the legendary unobtanium transitionals worth big bucks?

No picture now but I can probably post some later.

I would assume its a user modified 23.

You don't think its one of these? http://supertool.com/StanleyBG/stan4.htm#num23

is this a shop modification

People have been modifying perfectly good things long before we have been around.
