My local hardwood dealer (130 miles away for me) is hit and miss on what he carries in QSWO (being in Oregon is great if you're building everything from walnut, but most traditional furniture woods come from the East).

I've got a couple of bigger furniture projects planned for this year and need a couple of suggestions of where to get some "above average" QSWO - say 50-100 BF.

So, who's easy to order from and has high quality QSWO at a reasonable price?

These folks are not in your neck of the woods but they are great!

You know, I've spent quite a bit of time searching the net in the last week or so - and Quartersawnoak.com was at the top of my possibilities list.

Tony, have you dealt with them personally? I'm looking for a recommendation.

Check out Talarico Hardwoods.

That's where I get my QSWO. I doubt they will hit your price point, though. In any event - some great stuff to look at.

They are very easy to talk to. I stopped by there on one trip to that area.

My stuff is generally bought as a flitch, so I am getting bookmatched as part fo the bargain - but you pay for the really good stuff.

I have worked with Scott many times. He is a stand up guy that will always treat you well. He keeps a lot of really nice oak in stock at all times.

BTW, he is a member here, although I can't find his member name for some reason.

Thanks for the heads up, Kent. They're "high-end" for sure - but have nothing to apologize for. Extraordinary inventory for special projects.

Thanks Mark. Good info. Sounds like I could get an above average selection from him when the time comes. He's on my short list for sure.

I buy Oregon Oak from Hardwood components <http://www.hardwoodcomponents.com/>
Also you might try <http://www.zenaforest.com/>
They have some QSWO as well as other Oregon hardwoods. I don't know about shipping.
Both are very helpful and easy to work with.

Thanks, Bill. Didn't know those mills existed.

I don't get over to the Salem area very often (350 miles) but I'm going to make a point of checking each out in the future. I'll have to email them and see if they have Saturday hours (I'll be in the Portland area in a couple of weeks).
