I plan to make a Moxon vice using acme threaded rod. The threaded rod in the latest Lee Valley catalog doesn't appear to be what was recommended on the website I found the vice plans on. I looked at some industrial sites, but they asked for specs that I didn't understand. Can anybody steer me in the right direction?

Here's a link to a online vendor with easy to understand listings. the 3/4-6x36" would be plenty for a moxon vise. 3/4 is the diameter, 6 is the tpi and 36" is the length(but you probably know that already). Be sure to order the corresponding nuts at the same time.

Here is a better link from enco;

That links you to both the rod and the nut. Good luck

LV has acme threaded rod? I can't seem to find it. I'd appreciate a link as they're a "local" supplier for me.

Thanks

The only threaded rod I see on Lee Valley is 1/4" and 5/16", might try phoning them.

I see you've got them sourced already, but acme is more common than you might think. I bought some 1 1/2" for my vise at the local hardware store. The nuts had to be ordered, but the screws were in stock. Fastenal also sells it.
