So happy I found this forum!

But I have a problem. I've been using a Carba-tec mini lathe for some years now to turn pens and other small items and the lathe has been great but yesterday it started messing up.

As soon as I put the tool to the stock, the lathe shuts off. It will reset with the on/off switch and start again but will shut off again as soon as I start to turn.

I know the lathe has an electronic speed compensator and I think that is what has gone wrong, but I can't find any support at the carba-tec web site or any place that might have a replacement part.

If anyone has had this happen or knows how to fix it I would appreciate hearing from you.

email to pendragonpens@cox.net

Thanks

... it very active with pen turners and someone may be able to help.

You will have to complete a simple registration if you aren't already registered on Yahoo.

Thanks Ken.

I just need to know where I can find/buy this part from.
Any info you can give me would be great!

I'm in S. California or I would bring it to you for fixing.

Thanks again.

Oh yeah, it's a original model I guess, about 7 or 8 years old.

grainger.com has the speed controller
you would hook up the speed control knob (pot switch)
to the controller. The info needed is if the motor is AC or DC and
what Horsepower it is. Directions are included so hookup is sinple.
also the motor will state what type of wireing it is. Shunt style or other
you need to know this before ordering.
Since technoligy? has advanced so have the controllers.
the chances of matching the one you have is poor to none.
I will help anyway that I can from here
also have the motor checked to be sure that the brushes (if they have any)
are good before replacing the controller.
If this sounds confusing just remove the motor and controller and ship
will return asap ( I would not want to be without my lathe either)
