I saw this on Fine Woodworking this morning. I wish I had seen this before I bought one.

Great tip, thanks! Though I like the precision of the LV one I bought, seems kind of silly now!

I have a couple different saddle squares that have different length arms and are used for different sizes of stock or tasks. The combo-square centering head would certainly work better than the tip I have seen about using a hinge ;-)

If you take a piece of cardboard and fold it in half, you have one too, with the benefit that it will transfer to surfaces that don't have to be perfectly perpendicular.

Most hinges will do the same thing.

I glued up some L-stock and cut it into saddle squares and dovetail markers. Make sure to relieve he inside corner a bit - for a better fit.
Best wishes,

I have the Woodpecker saddle square and use the thing all the time. I really never thought I would use a saddle square that much but I do. I use it for a small square, not just a saddle square.

I guess if you don't have a saddle square buy one or use the idea Raymond posted but give it a try, they are a great little tool.
