This is a piece of maple burl which had a fair number of bark inclusions cracks and other defects. I decided to fill the defects with metallic copper powder using CA glue and dyed it with aniline dyes hoping to carry over some of the coppery look in to the wood itself. It is about 13" in diameter and finished with Wipe On Poly. The grooves around the rim are done with copper paint. C&C are welcome. Thanks for looking. Some of you may have seen it on other forums but I wanted to post it here as well.

Well done, very impressive results. I was recently attempting something similar and my results were disappointing. Seeing this motivates me to keep trying. Thanks!

Thanks for the comments everyone. The piece is currently in a gallery in Calumet, Michigan which is in an area of the state called "Copper Country" but I may bring it back home for a while.

Bill, I ordered the powdered copper from Craft Supplies USA through their woodturnerscatalogue.com site.

Well done Mark! I really like the blues. The color isn't so strong that it's distracting. This piece is quite nice.
