Resaw Fence Question

How many use a tall fence when doing resaw work? What is your fence of choice; homemade or something else?

Mine is about 6" tall. It's 3/8" aluminum plate, and home made. The OEM fence was 2 1/2" tall.
If you are going to be doing a lot of resawing, a tall fence is better than one of those short OEM fences. You need to be able to push a board through with enough fence to register, and support, it flat to the fence, and parallel to the blade, while you're pushing it through.
The downside of a tall fence is that when you are resawing material that is shorter than the fence is tall, the guide bearings and lowering mechanism are further away, leaving more unsupported blade length. Not a really big deal in my opinion, but it could be from a safety aspect because now you have a very aggressive blade that is exposed, and you are pushing into it.

I do. I have the tall version of the Laguna Driftmaster Fence. That plus a homemade resaw jig.

I like that Alan; simple, no more material than that needed to do the job, readily fabricated for minimal time and money, easy on/ off, and no doubt effective over a variable height range. I have one word for all of that praise: elegant!
