Hey all.

One of our X2-660's appears to be firing on only one of the laser cartridges.

I did an alignment check: at 100% laser 1 reads 62W on our power meter, laser 2 reads 0W.

I swapped the wires between the lasers and got similar results: at 100% laser 1 reads 66W, laser 2 reads 0W.

So, it appears the laser cartridges are OK.

Mirror alignment looks OK.

Obviously I'll call ULS support tomorrow, but thought somebody here might be able to help troubleshoot tonight.

Anybody care to speculate?

Power supply?
Beam combiner?

Thanks,
-kg

Did you try swapping the laser positions? Then test.

After the usual exemplary assistance from ULS support, we determined that the problem was indeed the beam combiner (the bottom tube's spot was over 1/4" from the top tube's spot at the far end of the cutting table). With blessings from ULS, I pulled out the beam combiner assembly to clean all the optics, then reinstalled and adjusted the mirror in the combiner to align the bottom tube's spot with the top tube's.

Back to 118watts.

ULS's support has ALWAYS provided us amazing service, if more businesses provided such, the world would be a much better place.

Thanks Darryl, Eric, Jerry and co, keep up the great work!
