Craftsman DP Bearing Replacement

Hello, I have a Craftsman 15" 13 speed floor standing DP, Model 113.213850. Picked it up used and am replacing the spindle and bearings. Need some help with replacing the thrust ball bearing. Does it matter whether the smaller bore raceway washer is located on top or underneath the bearing? It gets sandwiched between the bottom 6503Z bearing and the spindle. And any idea what kind of lubrication the thrust bearing would use?
