Looks like we might have a good view of a comet in December if we have some clear skies in the morning.

I can remember the last two or three comets of the century. We had a halleys comet and a hale-bopp and khoutek. It seems that every comet that comes along is the comet of the century. They do look cool in the hubble telescope pictures though.

Kohoutek was actually pretty decent.
Last I heard ISON was probably going to be destroyed by the sun. Have they determined it will survive?

Last I heard (today at 6:00PM) they really didn't know whether it would survive or not. Looking it up on starwalk it will reach 0.012 AU from the sun on the 14th.

After it makes the round about of the sun, it will be visible in the EVENINGS, if it survives.
Will come about 40 million miles from Earth. It damned near hit Mars.

80 power celstron spotting scope and my canon d20 then a little manipulation in photshop

sounds just like Icarus, the comet Ison appears to have flown too close to the sun and broken up in its corona
