These are probably around my 15th-20th bowls that I have ever finished, so there are still some challenges in form and transition from side to end, but I am getting better with each bowl. I have the mirror cut of the natural edge mesquite I want to make about half as thick in a similar form, so we will see how well I manage on that. I also need to work on my photography skills and getting clear focus over the body of the bowl with better lighting. Something else I get to work on improving!

C&C welcome.

I like the shallow osage and sycamore forms the best......both are nicely refined. I would like to have seen a pic of the open side of the poplar...........that has some very nice spalting, and the bottom looks nice.

I have some pictures of (what I guess to be) the poplar. I have several bowls from that tree, and each one of them I am getting better at showing off that grain and coloration. I will post some later when I get home.

I like the smaller osage a lot, not sure what it is, but that's my favorite of the lot. The mesquite under the smaller osage and also the sycamore are also nice but maybe I'd have gone further down in the corners on the insides of both of them. They look... I dunno... heavy(?) there. Like there's a thickening in the wall as it turns that corner, in a way that doesn't match the rest of the bowl wall. It might just be the perspective of the shots. Overall, you're getting a better finish and nicer cut than I do. :) I need to practice more (you're about ten bowls ahead of me), except the boring real job keeps getting in the way.

Being partial to NE bowls ... I like the mesquite. The other one I like is the Osage Orange ( small ) nice form , I think because it appears a tad thinner and not clunky looking or heafty like the larger one , with nothing to distinguish it from the others . Nice work on all actually. If your cam has adjustable F stop, that will help with the depth of field and focus that a lot or most point and shoot do not have - same with cell phone cameras ...

The large osage was a special request for my uncle, who likes heavier, substantial bowls. I would personally thin it out some more, but he likes the style, and wanted a nice hefty salad bowl.

Very, very nice bowls--there is a lot of Osage O. growing around College station I've always drooled over.
