I am looking at a Craftsman 22116 hybrid table saw on CL. The seller is asking $750 for it.
He states that it is basically brand new and the pictures he provided seem to confirm that is in pristine condition.
Is this a fair price or is it high?

If I do snap it up, what is the best/easiest way to load it into my pickup?
Thanks, Bob

That saw should sell for about $400-$450. The Sears list is $1100 which means the typical sale price is about $900. The saw is made by Steel City and granite tops may be harder to re-sell. It was an idea that never caught on. Also, there is no warranty. A new one from Steel City is warranted for two years.

Paul: Thanks for the input. Anyone else has any input?

It's high for that saw. I think Paul is right on. I recently sold my Powermatic 64A for under $750 and though not a "hybrid" I consider it to be a superior saw. You can get more for your money.

Bob,

If you can find a Craftsman 22124 Hybrid in excellent condition, at about $500-$550, that I think would be a better choice. It is similar in construction to the the one you are looking at, but has a cast iron top and best of all, a commercial Biesmeyer fence. I own one and it is an excellent saw. Both were made by Steel City (or it's subsidiary, Orion)

IMO no way. I'm assuming you want the hybrid because of the 110? If you can do 220 at all I'd go get an old CS it would be better quality and you will love it in the long run better no question. At best half that amount listed. TM2CW.

I bought a new 22124 years ago for $500 when Sears Essentials took HF coupons. That saw should be priced $300 or less used.

Too high. 22124's go for $500 - $600. More if they've been 'enhanced'. I'd pass. JMHO as a previous and very happy 22124 owner.

Thanks for all the comments. My preference all along has been for a 22124 or its Steel City cousin, but I just don't see many available in my area. For the next 2 or 3 years I'm stuck with 110 voltage, so I'm hunting for a hybrid if at all possible as a short-term replacement.

I got that saw about 2 1/2 years ago when it was on sale at Sears for about $875. I has served me well.

Have seen this from Grizzly? $900 delivered (new, with riving knife and warranty). Comes wired for 220 but can be converted to 110. You may need to upgrade your circuit to 20A or better.

While I own other Grizzly tools and I am satisfied, I do not have any experience with this one

My CL has an ad from a Steel City warehouse and they have the 22116 new in box for $750.

Bob, someone else on the Creek got one directly from Steel City (5hp) a few months ago. Try calling them.

The steel City Tools site has the 35950G (with Granite top) and the 35950 With CI top on sale for 999.00. Check their home page. I have dealt with Terry Ross of SC many times and find him to be very good with customer Service. Send him an email and check them out The G model in identical to the Craftsman saw but with a warranty. I think I would op for the cast iron top but that is a personal choice.

The Grizzly G0715P is also a very good saw in its class. I own 3 major Grizzly machines and have been very pleased with them. Their customer service is second to none.

You would be very happy with either of these saws and having a warranty gives peace of mind.
