View Full Version : Woodturners Finish....whats the preferred brand

I went looking for WTF finish & found various makers. Also a water base vrs a oi base....So what is the preferred brand. I've been using friction polish & want to try another finish....So if you guys wouldn't mind please give me some ideas....I only turn various size bowl & platters/plates.....I'm still learning.

Jay, the brand referred to as WTF is a General Finishes product.

I've been using General Finishes Wood Turners Finish for a few years and like it very much. It dries quickly and can develop a glass like shine if that's the gloss level you are interested in. Thin coats have worked best and I usually cut back every third or fourth coat with 320-400 grit wet paper.

The general finishes wtf is water based and, as John K. said, is the one typically meant by wtf here.
