A couple of simple bowls, the Sweet Gum bowl is 11" X 5" (lacquer finish). The Bradford Pear bowl is 12-3/4" X 4-1/4" (Wipe on Poly). Comments and critiques welcome.

Both nice looking bowls. The burning band adds. Got to love Bradford Pear when you can find the larger sections. The Sweet Gum is also nice. Haven't found any SG over here in Fbg. Did you use any oil before the final finishes?

Both are nice. Like the undercut rim. Do you prefer lacquer or WOP?

I think the rustic looking pyro band looks interesting

Thanks everyone.
Thomas - I did not use any oil on these, I have in the past and will again on some wood.
Eric - I prefer lacquer for light colored woods and WOP or tung oil under lacquer for darker woods. I find lacquer easier to use if the weather is warm and dry, WOP is more forgiving of weather conditions and is a more durable finish.

+1 on the burning , that accent is spot on for the SG . Do / did you use a jig or somthing to index for the burning portion ?

I like the form on the plain bowl best, but the burned band really sets off the first bowl. Simple and effective.
