Everybody has their own technique of sharpening chisels, including me. I put together a sharpening tutorial for the students who take my hand cut dovetails course. You can see the tutorial here (http://www.mikes-woodwork.com/SharpeningChisels.htm).

Works for me.

Nice tip about the lapidary diamond disk for the worksharp. About your troubles with the Veritas honing guide - I pay special attention to tighten each thumb wheel equally by hand. This usually means loosening one side as I tighten the other. Has gripped well for me, and I have never experienced any slippage.

A link to a diamond disc supplier would be much appreciated. I just searched and finished up totally confused. Thanks.

Here's one - Kingsley North (http://www.kingsleynorth.com/skshop/product.php?id=90216&catID=182).

I explored the same application, with the Work sharp.
In a classroom setting, this would make real sense - it's fast, effective and repeatable.

You'll need to have the arbor size of your motor, when ordering.

(I did not purchase this, as I only handle a few tools for myself - I trade space for time, as my shop is small.)

Thanks Jim, when I searched they wanted far more than the prices on the site in your link. It will go on a worksharp as you have done.

Here's one on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BB13XD8/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=2M1XMQFRF5982&coliid=IVCJFCPXEU9C9). I bought the ones I have on eBay from a seller by the name of jadecarver. I just checked and they are $12 - I must have mis-remembered the price and I'll change what I have on the tutorial.
