I finally got it done! Wife liked the one we gave our daughter so much I had to make her one too! This is a double bed, made using soft maple, with a higher head and footboard. Started it back in July, and amazing how many things come 1st before woodworking
We had a nice pine cannonball bed in this room that I built 13 yrs ago, it's going to my son's house for one of his kids.

Real nice work. Do you have a lathe with 8' center to center, or did you turn in sections using tenons to join?

Nice job. What did you color the maple with?

I stained it with Min Wax dark walnut, but it came out a sick color. The dark walnut looks great on oak, which is why the wife picked it. I should have known it wouldn't work with the soft maple. I added some walnut toner to the lacquer to try and get it darker.

heres the before and after

Very nice looking and great job on the lathe work. Did you use a duplicator or turn them turned individually to match?

Duplicator. Vega 36" on my General lathe. I also use a 20+ yr old Mini Max copy lathe for thin turnings. It has a traveling support bearing.
