This spring I have been puttering away at building some storage along the north wall of the shop. The unit is patterned after the NYW shop hutch. The difference is there is no hutch, it is twice as long/wide, and not as deep.

I has 6 4"x29"x22" drawers along the top. Below 4 of those drawers are 2 drawers stacked measuring 11"x29"x23". On the ends will be double doors for housing things that don't fit in a drawer.

The carcass is 3/4" shop grade plywood. The top has a half lapped 2/4 frame with 3/4" CDX plywood on top, and then topped off with 1/4" Masonite.

Each drawer box is made of 1/2" cabinet grade plywood with dovetail corners. The bottom of the drawers in 1/2" plywood fitting into dados in the sides. Each corner of the small drawers has 5 dovetails and 5 pins. The large drawers have 14 dovetails and 14 pins in each corner. That is a lot of time at the Incra fence and templates.

The drawer fronts are made of the same material as the carcass, 3/4" ply, with rounded over edges. Drawer handles are HD el cheapo.

Note that clutter expands to fill the space available. :)

Isn't that some sort of corollary to the second law of thermodynamics?

Nicely done project. You went to a lot of effort dovetailing those drawers, bet you have that operation down pretty well by now.
