So, after landing a deal on Papa Griggio (a 24" Italian Bandsaw) complete with a rotary phase converter and accompanied by a Vega lathe, I've taken to checking the local web classifieds for any other fine tools that may fit into the vision I have for my shop. Today, I came across several, but one looks to be a screaming deal. And yet, ...

I can't bring myself to pull the trigger.

A Powermatic 225 Planer. An old PM 225. The motor, 3 phase, is from Valley Electric. From the pics, the planer looks to be in good condition.

So, why am I passing this up?

Because the thing is HUGE. I started doing a bit of research on it, because the listing didn't have any more info than the model number. So I find out it's a 24" planer. And it weighs somewhere between 2,300 and 2,800 lbs. While taking up a lot of space.

In my current circumstances, getting that thing into my shop, finding a place for it, and then dealing with the prospect of having to move it again, is all a bit much. I may be crazy, but I'm not double long sleeve padded room crazy!

For those curious, the planer can be had for less than $.30 a lb.
