I some time ago purchased a C577B with a Stanley clip and blade on it. I have seen two more since that time, one this past weekend. My question is; Is it possible Stanley used the Craftsman body and sold them as their product? I know they used up what they had from time to time. Thanks,Joe

No idea, but Sears conracted with Stanley for some of their planes - also with Millers Falls and Sargent, probably depending on who made the best contract offer in any given period. You might just have what is commonly known as a Frankenplane, put together from parts someone had in the shop.

I'm curious: what do you mean by "clip?"

I do beg your pardon, I should have said lever cap. Clip is slag for the same thing. May be just my slag or it could be neubee talk.
