Depth Gauge Gadget

There was a gadget thread and this gadget was forgotten until used today.

It is easier to shoot a 4 second video than to explain:

With the Tee up the scale it is set into a mortise and given a light bow to the back. The Tee then slides down and stops at the top of the mortise.

Good thing the video is only 4 seconds long as you might have to watch it a second time to follow the action.

Those are pretty neat. I inherited a similar tool from my uncle that I use regularly, looks like this: http://www.starrett.com/metrology/product-detail/Precision-Measuring-Tools/Precision-Hand-Tools/Depth-Gages/Vernier-and-Rule-Depth-Gages/236HA. The narrow rule slips into very small holes when needed, and the base is wide enough to straddle fairly large holes.
