The Operators manual is silent on the question of amperage requirements, voltage at 220. So what is anyone using 20, 30, 40.

Thanks for the help

20 amp should be just fine with your PM3520a

As usual, Jim got it right. I've not been able to bog mine down and it is a 20A circut.

Tom
I ran a seprate 220 line to a circuit breaker and then was advised to put a twist lock 20amp plug on the cord so that it could be unpluged after use. this was to stop any ground surge that might affect the vari speed drive.

I ran a 220V 30Amp circuit.....no problems here. :D

... it draws 15.4 amps at 230 volts.

Looks like a 20 amp circuit will work well.

Thanks Clem. Exactly what I wanted to know. The twistlock plug I had already planned on.

I agree. 20A is plenty of power for this motor. I also added a double-pole switch with a pilot light just ahead of the dedicated outlet. That way, I can kill the power to the variable speed circuitry when I am not going to be using the machine for a day or more. The STOP button on the lathe does not turn off the variable speed circuitry. The pilot light reminds me to flip the switch when I turn off the shop lights. Its redeye stands out in the darkened shop.
