First let me say that I am thrilled with it. I can get better insurance next year for less than half of what I am paying now. Can't beat that.

But I wanted to know if I could change my plan any time after I signed up for it.
A broker told me that I could change carriers any time, but I couldn't change plans within a carrier for a year.
That didn't make sense, so I chatted with someone on the Federal site. They had no idea, but said someone would call me within 5 days.
I chatted with someone on the NYS site. He (Elvis!) said that I could change freely for 90 days, then not until the end of the year; carrier or plan made no difference.

Isn't this a pretty basic question? Shouldn't they know something like this?

Really just venting, but I don't suppose anyone knows how to get a definitive answer.

Have you really checked the features of the so-called Affordable Care Act? By this I mean the deductibles; the maximum out-of-pocket cost; the co-pays; the co-ins; what's covered & what isn't; the actual limitations on coverage; the network requirements & out of network restrictions; referrals required; ambulance & hospital costs; prescription coverage local and/ mail order; vision coverage; dental coverage; hearing coverage; whether the coverage provided is more than what you actually want or need i.e. would a single man want maternity coverage; etc, etc, etc? There are many things to consider, including the history of government managed programs in terms of efficient administration & long term financial solvency? Historically, big government loses all credibility on these measures, especially when there is still so much hidden that hasn't been revealed (i.e. hidden taxation) until after people have signed up. Have you even considered asking your providers(s) what they think and whether they will participate in the ACA? How many providers will no longer provide the services needed and more importantly how big a disincentive this will be to the potential young professionals that will decide not to pursue a medical career because of socialized medicine?

I have explored & considered all of the above & find that obamacare is not what it's promoted to be. It is based on many deceptions, many outright lies, passed by partisan legislation that wasn't even read, and whose web launch is a total disaster. This is doomed to failure before it even starts. Consider also that this program may be the prerequisite for a one-payer socialist health system that appears now to be the perceived motivation behind this fiasco.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

Whoa.. Fox News and Glen Beck here we come. Even though the OP seems happy.. Go figure?

I'm beginning to wonder if a bunch of "whoevers" are just sitting home flooding the website with clicks, bogus info, and so on.

It's all too funny...

Change the damn channel for a few minutes a day dude.

My daughter is just about to turn 26 and is dropping off our insurance plan. She looked on line and discovered she could get a high deductible Obamacare plan for $245 per month. She then checked the plan at the university where she is going to graduate school. A far superior low deductible plan is available for $139. I think this is pretty typical for her demographic. I hope this isn't considered political because these are just facts.

Folks, this is a hot button political subject for many people and violates SMC's No Politics policy.
