Can I use this to operate my Fein TurboII vac? I think it draws 11 amps.

What does 13 Amp, 1625W Resistive / 8 Amp, 1000W Tungsten mean?

I don't know what all that means, but I have this exact same one. I use it to operate a contactor switch to turn on and off my DC system. It has served me well for 2 or 3 years.
This info probably does not help at all does it? Sorry!

I was curious to know what it meant, so I googled it.
Resistive load is the maximum it can carry. Tungsten is less because lights have very low resistance when first turned on (who knew?)
Motors are the worse because motors take a lot to start.
So, I would figure it can handle a motor a bit less than the tungsten rating, or maybe 7a. So, no it won't work, or if it does, it won't last.

Tungsten lamps typically draw 10 or more times the nominal rated current for a few dozen milliseconds until the filament reaches a stable temperature. What the specification is saying is that the device will drive a 1000W light bulb (~80A instantaneous) from a cold start. That is very different from a small motor, which only draws maybe twice nominal current on startup, albeit for a somewhat longer time period. As an electrical engineer, my take is that the device will work just fine. Larry's experience with a similar current draw verifies that.

Dave,
I have had this one hooked up to My Fein Turbo III for 8 months or more....works fine. I think this one is the better of the two that I have.

I also have one of these hooked up to a Festool Mini and it has worked fine also.

Larry ran perhaps 0.1a through it. That doesn't really verify that it will handle 11a.

The remote that Jim posted (the HW2190)is one of the better ones out there. It is made by Carlon and sold under various brand names, such as Thomas and Betts and Lamson. The Clearvue Cyclones were sold for years using the Carlon as a remote. I have two in my home: one for my Cyclone and one for lights. To be clear, the cyclone remote is used to energerize a small 220V relay which in turn turns on the 220V cyclone. I do not know if it has the capacity to handle the starting load of your Fein.......others have said yes. But I can attest to the quality of the remotes having used them for several years without a failure.

Yeah. I missed the part about the device only operating a contactor switch of some sort. The spec on the device says it will handle 13A resistive and implies it will hold ~80A long enough to heat up an incandescent filament.

Sounds like it's a go. Thanks for all the input.
