I have some maple that has a redish tint i have never seen in my area. Is this normal or am i just crazy. Looks more like chery than maple. I will post pics when i get home.

Soft maple has a reddish tan color and usually more resembles birch in color and grain.
A picture of your board would help.

I bought some "red heart maple" a few years ago. The sawyer said that it was big leaf maple that had grown in iron rich soil and picked up a red hue. It looked sort of like cherry or alder.
