I love it when friends get recognition for what they do - especially when it comes to turning.

Check out this press release on John Keeton (http://migration.kentucky.gov/newsroom/kyarts/Governors_Awards_Keeton.htm)! The big event is tomorrow and I have already asked him to take some photos!! Please join me in congratulating him! Hard to believe that he started turning only a few short years ago!!

Congrats John! :D

I suspect the awards John turned will get about as much buzz as the recipients themselves........these 12 "trophies" are stellar work....form, conception, finish and execution..........congratulations JK!

Outstanding. As a somewhat new turner I've admired John's work, his comments, instruction and mentoring through this site. He was also kind enough to visit with me on the phone and share his expertise in helping my learning curve. His trophies are superb examples of his incredible work. You certainly deserve this honor, John.

I really appreciate all the kind words! Certainly, the good Lord deserves praise for whatever talent has been given me, and I need all of you to know how much is owed to the Creek and all that mentored and encouraged me along the way. Steve, you know that you have been an inspiration from the beginning both with your work and especially with your friendship.

I'll say it again........for someone who only wanted to turn a couple table legs for a piece of furniture he was making....You have come a long ways!Ken, I still have the prototype for that set of table legs! It sure was a fork in the road for me and the beginning of an exciting journey.

Thanks, again to each of you!

What an honor! Congratulations, John. You're work is exquisite and this piece is "over the top"!!
If anyone has the opportunity to visit the Artisan Gallery in Berea, it's one of the best galleries anywhere and included a display of John's turned art. My visit there a few weeks was highlighted by a chance meeting with John and Steve who happened to be there at the same time. John has also been selected to be on the faculty of John Campbell School and will be conducting a turning class in March I believe

Thanks to Steve for posting the article, we know, John wouldn't have himself. John you are way too modest. Your work inspires many here at the Creek and sets a standard that is seldom matched. Good on you, Mr. Keeton.
