I just built a dining table of cocobolo and put danish oil on. I'm not happy with the luster. Does any one have some experience finishing this wood. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gary

I've finsihed a few cocobola pieces and found that it dries very slowly and seems to soak up a lot of finish. I believe it is very oily and therefore if you can, I would wipe it down really good with naptha before putting on the first coat of oil finish. That will help the drying time some. Also, the last piece of cocobola I used, I put a coat of Zinnser Sanding sealer on it before anything else. That made gettting to the "luster stage" happen a lot sooner (maybe 2 - coats of oil finish.

Hope this helps.
