Found a Craigslist ad near me for a Belsaw 9103 for only $80. That seems like an awfully good deal if it's running, considering what the lunchbox planers go for around here.

The guy says "I don't know much about it. It was my dad's. All I know is it works on 220, and worked the last time he used it. I made a lot of furniture with it."

Any tips to look out for? Assuming there is a 220 outlet available I'd like to plug it in and hear it run at least. Not sure if I'll be able to run any wood through it. Anybody know how much they weigh, roughly?

About 250 lbs. Great planer for the price. Rollers tend to last a long time and aren't too costly to replace compared to (for example) Makita rollers. They make a racket when running due to the chain-and-sprocket transmission instead of a closed gearbox. It's not an unpleasant noise especially, it's just that if you haven't heard one run before it might be difficult to hear a problem. Parts are obtainable and not too costly. Judging by the paint job, the planer appears to have been well maintained.

Go get it. 80 bucks is a steal and it's a great planer.

Unfortunately I wasn't the first in line. But sometimes that's how things work with Craigslist.

Thanks everyone!
