That's pretty awesome to say the least, well done!

Is that hang very steep or am I imagining it?

For a dovetail saw the hang angle is rather low. But when you take in the canted blade, the angle is pretty normal again. At least when I compare it to my LV dovetail saw. A saw like the Seaton chest dovetail saw has a much higher angle. I used this rather low angle to give the teeth a pretty agressive rake angle at 4 degrees. The saw is still very easy to start though. 18 ppi probably helps a lot in that regard too.

Looks great,Kees, but you'll never make a decent dovetail from that particular piece of wood!!:)

Nice looking dovetail saw, is the handle beechwood?

Nicely done! The slightly thicker handle even looks more comfortable.

Great looking saw. With my big hands a slightly fatter handle is appreciated.

Hi Kees

That is a good looking saw. It has a chunky, no-nonsense, solid look. I like the proportions, the attention to detail, and the hang looks good as well.

Did you remember to put teeth on it, and how many?

Regards from Perth

Derek

Yes, almost forgot the teeth, but the performance was lacking without them. :)
It has 18 ppi, rip saw teeth with 4 degrees rake. At least, that's what I was trying to make. The teeth are tiny! Not easy.

George, glad you like it too. I was feeling you looking over my shoulder and critising every little detail. :D
It's far from perfect though.

Robert, yes it is beech, with a little bit of spalting. That helped to get the wonderfull colours. Quartersawn of course.
