I just received this info. I know some here work with edge lighting. This material seems pretty slick for specialized purposes. http://www.acrylite.net/sites/dc/Downloadcenter/Evonik/Product/ACRYLITE/3788-market-segment-brochure-for-lighting-technologies.pdf

It's been out for a few years now... I like it, but you definitely want a good light source to get a bright panel.

I want to start messing around with edge lit stuff, what makes for a "good" light source Dan?

You'll have to define "good". For LEDs, look for something with a narrow viewing angle and a close cluster of LEDs... that will aim as much light into the sheet as possible.

Or just go the cheap route and purchase some of those LED-by-the-meter rolls from China ;)
