came in the mail. An Ohio Tool Co. , Thistle Brand, #05c, made in Auburn NY, USA. 272219272220272221272222Iron has a six sided hole near the edge.

Question: Is that brownish paint the Ohio Co. "factory" paint colour? If so, what flavour should I shop for, since about 50% is gone. Wheel is brass, with right hand threads. Frog was even paint that brown colour, as well as the handles. Lever cap seems to have been a black colour.

This might be fun to do...

Brownish colour looks like rust to me.

I think maroon as opposed to brown.

Closest match I got was a Colonial Red, by Rustoleum. Apparently, these were painted a red colour back then.

Iron is a taper one. There is also a laminated steel to it. A thin, "bright" steel on the edge side, and a duller "gray" steel for the rest. Thickness at the bevel area is about 3/16" thick. Sharpens up real nice though.

Ohio Tool went out of business making planes about 1920, or so?? Thread on the brass adjuster wheel are right hand threads. Iron has a hex shaped hole. This is a "c" version, with nice grooves, too.
