This is the best of several pictures I took of this vase. The reflections caused me some grief even though the surface has not yet been waxed. Vase is 13-1/2 inches tall. The wood has a lot of character with some spalted sapwood and some nice figuring in the heartwood. The form has a more gentle curve than I usually turn for this shape. Finish is WOP (too wet lately for lacquer). Comments and critiques are welcome.

Nice job Dennis. I really like what looks to me like flames coming off the swirls on the left side.

That is a pretty form Dennis! I like the collar treatment you gave it...........just enough to enhance the form without distracting from the flowing curve. Gotta love that grain! Nicely done!

That wood piece turned out really well. Such a very remarkable piece. The wood is beautiful. I am amazed of the hard-work you put through this.

Dennis, I didn't realize it was that big until I read your dimensions! Quite a large vessel... And the form is beautiful. While walnut is my favorite wood, the figure is stunning, the sapwood adds great contrast, the spalting in the sapwood just puts it over the top, my favorite thing about this is the neck/collar. I can't imagine a better shape, better size, or better execution.

BTW, I say what I feel. If I didn't like it, or if I had critique, I don't care if everyone else was kissing your feet over the turning, I'd speak my mind. I really just think you hit a home run!
