Thought I posted this yesterday but cannot find it.

Bought this at a Yard sale, the guy took $3.00 for it.

I do not understand why it has 2 Fences, how would you use this. Is it Worth $3.00?

I cannot even find a picture of it, the markings on it are "Engineered by Leichtung Work Shops"

Thanks!

With the side fence, you can cut miters far greater than 45 degrees., clear up to 90 degrees. I would have been all over it for $3.00!

I always thought those worked like a bomber miter sled. So when set to 45-degrees, you cut one side of a miter on one face, and the other side of the miter on the other face, and you were guaranteed to get a right angle when the two parts were assembled.

Yours is cooler, but here is a link to the owners manual for Rockler's version, HERE (http://go.rockler.com/tech/RTD10000413AA.pdf).

Leichtung was a woodworking store and catalog sales company in Ohio. Not sure when they went out of business, but they were fairly popular in the day.

Haven't seen one of these in awhile. Nice find, Alan! My only concern with their accuracy is that you're always registering off the outside edge of the frame members. So long as the pieces are dimensioned perfectly ahead if time, that shouldn't matter though.

Leichtung became part of Woodworker's Supply some time ago. The miter gauge that you have allows making picture frames and other 90 degree joints easily. You cut one piece using the left side of the gauge with it set to approximately 45 degrees. Then you cut the mating piece using the right side of the miter gauge. Any difference in angle of the piece cut on the laft will be made up for in the cut on the right. The angle of the two pieces when mated together will always be 90 degrees.

I would gladly pay you 4X your purchase price for it. (you did very well)

Handy little gauge for sure, but we are talking about $3.00 here right?
