Are you talking about a Stanley #6 fore plane? If so you might try Stanley for parts: http://stores.stanleytools.com/Planes/. If you're talking about another type of plane I for one would be interested in learning something new.

The Highland Hardware catalog has plenty of Stanley spares (but I did not see the spares on the website). Phone: 404-872-4468. Looks like you need the Bench Plane Screw Kit #171903 at $9.99 or just the 4 3/8" Rear Handle Screw #105012 for $2.99 and a Short Handle Screw w/Nut #031854 for $3.49.

Bruce: Go slowly for if memory serves me correctly, the threads in the base of older planes is different than current models/current model parts.

Yesterday I received the handplane rods, nuts, and screws from Stanley .It was only $2.50 for shipping but the total came to $2,002,144.56. Must be made out of some exotic metals I've never heard of. :D

Where do you live that you pay only $2.50 sales tax on a $2,000,000 purchase? I want to move there!
