I have a project I have been working on that requires 3" doweling that I cut up into smaller sections. I currently have a source in Mass. but I am located in the Northwest and shipping times are killing me. Cherry, Maple, Popular, Ash, etc. My current source sends quality clean cuts. I have a local source that sells at a higher piece price and the sticks are glued up with 3-4 pieces. Anyone have a west coast connection for reasonably priced quality doweling.
Thanks in advance!

Can anyone suggest a better site for this thread question. Does not look like anyone here buys doweling..
Thanks

Mark,
Large dowels are pretty rare because there are very few projects that require them. I suggest that you try to find a CNC Router operator in your area who has an attached lathe. THis would give you a local supplier who can produce dowels quickly in any species you need. Start by looking in our FOTC Directory.

Will this get you started?

I doubt they'd have 3" but you might contact Midway Plywood in Lynnwood and see if they know of a source. They're really knowledgeable folks.

I started making my own after being frustrated by dowels not sized properly.
A 1 1/2" roundover bit in a router table will make 3" dowels.
But, I'm not sure that size bit is available. Maybe a shaper.

Whiteside makes a 1.5" roundover, bit number 2016. Big sucker at 3.75" overall diameter.
