Good afternoon guys. Im building some simple kid chairs with 1 3/8 square pine legs. I want to try out using a wide sliding dovetail for a couple connecting joints. (Im experimenting.)

Been watching Cosmans online workshop and just realized that I can probably cut 2 sliding dovetails faster with a handsaw and chisels than I can setup my router. So I went to the archives to pick out the right saw. Id like to buy a Veritas DT saw - price and performance are right. (Derek: the review you posted a while back really helped. Thanks.)

Question is, will a dovetail saw work ok on wood this thick? Or should I be using something else?

As always, thanks for your advice.
Fred

All their western style saws cut a full 1.375 under the spine unless I am badly mistaken. Check the catalog. As long as the depth of cut is sufficient for your needs the saws will do fine.
