When trees are cut should I Anchor Seal the ends of logs or will the splits stop several inches inside without it. I have logs cut into 6' lengths and are anywhere from 6" to 3' across. I just cannot cut all of this into bowl blanks quickly so wanted to store it outside of the shop on pallets to keep it off of the ground till I get to it..... months later.
So, do I need to Anchor Seal the ends or just let them crack?

Hi Ed. Diffferent varieties will split more than others and the time of year will make a difference too... hot or cold out. I have a 6" log that split it's whole 12' length. I'd seal them with a couple or three coats.

Sometimes the split will ruin the entire log, that is why loggers use it. Other times it only splits a few inches, I don't take chances, I Anchorseal every log.

I'll seal every log and not worry.

I agree. Play it safe. Seal 'em. Anchor Seal (or similar) is not all that expensive.
