Good luck. The Dalaway has a .015" thick blade. This made it a great favorite in the Anthony Hay cabinet Shop. Yes,the handle is a little simple,but a nice saw to use. I haven't seen another saw with the rounded up brass back at the front end of the saw.I folded the backs from 1/8" brass sheet.

Thanks! I'm just puttering along from one mistake to the next. My back is also folded from 1/8 brass. The blade is slightly thicker at 0.018". Wouldn't the original have a steel back? That was quite common in the 18th century.

No,the original had a brass back in this particular saw.

I am no backsaw expert, but I really like the simple handle, and the low hang just looks right to me.
