Redsail M500 new at this need some help!

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and to the laser cutting/engraving industry.
I has recently lost my job and am trying to find something to do to make some money and also do something i would enjoy.
So my question is, I wanted to make monogram lettering for cake toppers. i want to be able to provide up to 15" in height. would this machine do the job? also I'm buying from china which is scary cause i had "Iris" from Redsail Tech call me and i could have sworn she was talking chinese, email is def a better way to communicate but that scares me. I wish i can buy in the states but i just can't afford it. she quoted me $1899.00 is that a good price? has anyone purchase this item from china and does it need extra parts? there was another machine i was looking into but after purchasing it i would have to buy extra parts and i don't want the hassle of figuring it out.
Any information is appreciated.

I would budget another $1000 to get it through customs and delivered to your door. I have a Redsail M900 and I have been very happy with its performance.

$1899 seems quite low Filomena, does it include all the extras like extraction and water pumps?

it's 11 inch by 18 inch cutting area.

Not much between most Chinese made lasers, Redsail, Weike, Shenhui, King Rabbit etc, all basically the same thing.Big metal box, laser tube running from a Leetro Controller.

One thing to ask is what controller card it uses, the Leetro 6525 has been reported as having some problems of late.

Thanks guys for responding this is another machine I'm looking into I just want to make sure it can cut up to 1/4" thick wood before purchasing. Shenhui laser (in china) quoted me on SH-k40 for $500 and freight $450 this is what it claims to do

Cake toppers sounds like aacrylic and mirror acrylic to me. Combined with 1/4 inch wood .... Sound more like an 80 watt machine is needed than a small bed 40 watt. We soon learnt that the jobs grew to ft the laser. By buying small, you will be limiting future opportunities.

Hi Filomena,

The first one is a K40 series...to be blunt...aweful pile of junk. More problems come from the K40 series from all manufacturers than all the other lasers added together.

Second one looks ok and uses LaserCut (the best of the Chinese software)

Honestly my friend, don't touch the first one...they really are THAT bad.

Alexa is right, get the biggest you can budget for but don't go for overkill on power unless you do a LOT of cutting only. Tubes over 80 watts don't engrave very well.
