Tool Identification Help

Hello everyone. I found this in a box of my Grandfather's stuff and have never seen it before. My apologies for the blurriness. Any ideas?

It is a special tool made by Stanley that automatically makes your pictures really blurry.

The picture is indeed blurry, especially if you enlarge it. Makes me want to adjust my set.
However, the object in question is a cam depth stop for a Stanley no. 45 combination plane.

It's a steady rest for a plow plane. When you are making a groove far away for the edge this helps keeps the plane's attitude even.
