Does anyone know for sure if Moleskine notebooks (specifically the Classic) contains PVC? I just heard back from the company and they said the current covers of Moleskine products contain no PVC. I still like to verify since this can be a potentially very dangerous mistake. Thanks

According to http://www.scribd.com/doc/74821936/Moleskine-Spring-12-Catalogue (found via Wikipedia), their products have been PVC-free since 2012. Older products did contain PVC.

If you want to check, you could try the copper-wire test: http://vimeo.com/1615418

Thanks Matt. I saw the copper-wire test a week or two ago and thought about Moleskine. What do you think the chances are that any retailers still have the older products?

These are pretty quick selling items. Besides, even if they were pvc, and I'm not endorsing engraving pvc, they wouldn't be dangerous to engrave. You would be engraving so little and the coating is paper thin that I don't believe you could possibly do any harm to yourself or your machine.

BTW, the latest version is made in China and has been for a few years. It engraves differently than the originals.
