Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a good blacksmith to make holdfasts. I am a firm believer of supporting other craftsmen and know that the tool i get will be of great quality. I have had hinges hand forged before with great success but would like to see what others can do.

I appreciate all of your advice.
Thanks!!!!!!!! Scott

I bought a couple from LN and really like them! It's something I wish I'd have got a long time ago..

John Switzer's Black Bear Forge made these for me and they are OUTSTANDING. They look nice, too. The one on the left is after a cleaning.

I have one of the HFs from The Best Things, the ones that Joe mentioned. It is excellent, on par with my pair of Gramercys but much cooler looking.

You may also want to contact a farrier(horse shoer) in your area. He/she may appreciate the extra money and a change of pace.

I have Harry's and they're great. They're not pretty, but they work fantastically well and I'd buy them again.
