When I went to check out the saw vise I just posted the seller asks what other things I might be interested in. I tell him planes, saws, braces, bits, etc. He takes me down to his basement where he has a ton of various tools quite nicely organized. We chat a bit and I look around some. He shows me a drwaer full of chisels-nothing spectacular like pigstickers. He did have several turning tools in his chisel drawer and he was pleased that I helped him sort them out. He had a few low end planes in poor condition. Said he sold all the good ones already. Then I spot the shelf of saws. I pick out 2 that look interesting. Two D8 Disstons-thumbhole rip in decent shape. Good wood, straight plates, etch barely visible. One is 4ppi and the other is 5ppi. He even had tags with dates from the Disstonian Institute. I also found a nice little 10" backsaw stamped with Disston and Sons on the spine. All in decent shape and very restorable. And I had to give all of $20 for all three.
